On Thur, 19th of Feb 2015 our students had an informative and interesting lecture on Human rights, the UDHR, human rights abuse in Africa and the roles of youths and the ICC on the maintenance and preservation of human rights especially in Africa.
The lecture was given by a guest speaker who is a professor of International law from the University of Cordoba in Spain, Miguel Garcia. The students from A level, Form 3 and 4 assembled in the new auditorium for the lecture. They were informed on many issues ranging from the essence and nature of human rights, and received career advice on the field of law. Mr. Garcia also advised the students to be the ambassadors for change and to be at the forefront in spreading the knowledge of human rights and were needed to be the catalyst for a better world where human rights are upheld and respected.
Mr. Gracia emphasized that the need for youth, especially those from marginalized and poor communities like ours to study law, as knowledge of law is a necessary tool as far as human rights protection is concerned. He said that youth especially those in schools have got a paramount obligation to ensure the rights of all individuals and communities are upheld using their access to various resources afforded to them as result of them being in school.
